Technical- Operations Manager

PPS is seeking a qualified Technical-Operations Manager in its new Phoenix, Arizona facility.  

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Technical-Operations Manager has direct responsibility to safely lead and to manage operational aspects of the new Phoenix facility including engineering, maintenance, production control, fabrication, packing and shipping. With responsibility of various areas in the manufacturing facility, this position is considered second in command and ensures all workers are safe and productive in manufacturing quality products on time and on budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor all operations for safety, environmental, and housekeeping concerns and ensure action is taken to protect the health and welfare of our employees and our environment.
  • Engage the workforce in problem solving initiatives and ensure the disciplined execution of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for overall equipment stability ensuring maintenance crews are well planned and activities meet objectives of management.
  • Establish and plan maintenance activities utilizing a CMMS for system control and inventory management. Manage the performance of preventive and predictive maintenance. Identify equipment and operating problems and implement plans to increase productivity.
  • Establish KPI’s for operations/maintenance ensuring that safety, quality, and productivity are monitored and improved as required.
  • Assist in developing technical and operating capabilities through a suitably developed and administered training and development program.
  • Ensure that all elements of the Quality Management System are being followed.
  • Assist in the development and execution of operating and capital budgets.
  • Work with our technical team to conceptualize, develop, test, and implement cutting edge technology in operations.
  • Provide leadership and coordinate strategic business initiatives required to drive process improvement throughout the manufacturing operations in pursuit of operational excellence.
  • Work with the corporate technical group, departmental managers, and the company’s management team to ensure production is conducted safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Stay current on changes in technology and equipment within the extrusion industry and contribute to the development of business strategies to keep the company growing and profitable.
  • Ensure compliance in all OHSA, environmental, and compliance related issues.
  • Focus on productivity, order fulfillment, schedule adherence, process control, process stability and inventory management to ensure the highest level of service to customers.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • An identifiable track record of senior operations management experience delivering profitable results in a highly competitive manufacturing environment. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or other relevant discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years managerial experience in a manufacturing/plant environment.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • MBA / MS advanced degree
  • Experienced in extrusion and extrusion finishing processes.
  • A proven record of senior management success in a fast paced, customer focused, manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in successfully developing strong teams and strong relationships with internal stake holders, suppliers, customers, and other key business partners.
  • Experience in strategic planning and optimization of resources.
  • Experience in building systems to manage engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Experience in managing safety, quality, productivity, and cost in a capital-intensive operation.
  • Experience and training in Lean and Six Sigma concepts.
  • Proven ability to lead, collaborate, and execute.
