LOGISTICS GENERAL MANAGER

You will manage up to 50 employees consisting of 32 Drivers, 3-4 Mechanics and other Office Personnel to assure quality service and the timely, cost effective and safe movement of materials.

Experience with Steel or Metal Hauling a MUST!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

• Direct and manage staff: select, hire, train, coach, and counsel; assure performance and morale.
• Review  shipping orders and manage logistics operations to assure customer shipping needs are met.
• Oversee and direct third-party maintenance activities. Monitor truck maintenance and direct the management of on-site maintenance staff
• Assure compliance with all related governmental regulations (DOT, OSHA etc.)
• Recruit and hire drivers. Conduct new employee orientation, in conjunction with safety and human resource. Assure compliance with required testing and licensure regulations.
• Administer company human resource policies and programs; monitor employee relations to identify and resolve issues. Administer discipline.
• Prepare all required company and regulatory documentation.
• Monitor fuel efficiency data.
• Adhere to Budget and monitor terminal data.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Demonstrated knowledge of trucking industry: logistics, driver recruitment.
• Knowledge of all related governmental regulations (OSHA, DOT).
• General business knowledge: budgeting, planning, human resource management etc.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
• In-depth interpersonal skills: emotional maturity, conflict resolution skills; demonstrated trust and empathy.
• Sales and customer service skills.
• Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office; related logistics/transportation software packages.
• Communication skills including training skills.
